Gameboys
Gameboys — 10/10
Wholesome. Groundbreaking. A Love Story for Our Times.
Gameboys isn't just a BL—it’s a testament to love in the time of isolation. Created during the pandemic, it found a way to connect hearts across screens, both within the story and to its audience.
Cairo and Gavreel are a match made in pixels and destiny. What starts as light banter between a shy gamer and his confident admirer blooms into something beautifully sincere. Their virtual chemistry feels so raw and unfiltered, you'd forget it was all filmed remotely. The way the series handles emotional vulnerability, grief, jealousy, and trust—all through video calls and text messages—is nothing short of incredible.
What makes Gameboys stand out is its honesty. It doesn’t rely on clichés or artificial drama. It’s soft, real, and immensely respectful. The LGBTQ+ representation is authentic, filled with moments that feel like personal confessions instead of scripted lines.
Also? The production quality despite the limitations of quarantine is commendable. It turned its constraints into creativity—and that’s just beautiful storytelling. And the OST? Warm, catchy, and mood-lifting.
This isn’t just a BL. It’s a slice of history. A story of two boys falling in love amidst a global crisis and proving that even in the darkest times, connection, hope, and love can still thrive.
