GUARDIAN

 GUARDIAN6/10

BL / Fantasy / Chinese Drama

This one... hmm. Let’s just say it could have been so much more.

The chemistry between the leads? Absolutely magnetic. The kind of dynamic where their connection carries the whole show on its back. You keep watching just to see them share the screen. It’s subtle, intense, and undeniably there—one of those slow-burning, soul-tied relationships that somehow makes the weirdest plot twists feel watchable.

But speaking of plot... yeah, that’s where things went south. The story was confusing, erratic, and at times felt like it didn’t know where it wanted to go. By the end, it kind of fell apart. I heard the show suffered from lack of funding toward the end, and honestly? It shows. The production quality dips, the writing gets muddled, and you’re left scratching your head instead of crying in the finale.

Still, it’s a milestone drama for many, especially in the Chinese BL space. The potential was there. The leads delivered with what they were given. But in the end, Guardian is more of a “watch for the vibes” kind of show—not the story.
