War of Y
War of Y – 7/10
Thai BL Anthology • Realism / Industry Satire
War of Y is a bold and thought-provoking anthology that dives headfirst into the darker realities of the Boys’ Love (BL) industry. Produced by Change2561, this four-part series critiques everything from fake relationships and toxic fandoms to manipulative producers and the commodification of queer love.
Each arc features a new storyline and cast, with actors like Billy Patchanon, Seng Wichai, and Art Pakpoom delivering strong performances across deeply uncomfortable narratives. The show breaks down the BL fantasy and replaces it with harsh truths and ethical dilemmas—a daring choice that has earned both praise and criticism.
The realism is so stark that, for many viewers (myself included), it becomes emotionally overwhelming or difficult to finish. Not because it’s poorly made, but because it’s brutally honest. The “Y-Idol” arc in particular is intense, critiquing the casting and grooming culture in showbiz.
There’s minimal romance, and that might disappoint fans expecting fluff, but if you're ready for a cynical, sobering lens on the industry, War of Y delivers it unapologetically.
Rating: 7/10 – A sharp, intelligent series that's more of a commentary than a comfort watch. If you want to understand the inner mechanics of the BL world, this is required viewing—but it may not be one you’ll revisit often.
