The Trainee – 8/10

OffGun never disappoint, seriously. I came here for them, and they gave me exactly what I needed — chemistry, acting, emotion. The story had a good pace, not draggy, and the insight into the advertising world was actually really interesting. You end up learning a lot about how ad agencies function — something not many BLs explore, so that felt refreshing.

But, a few things did bother me.

First, the side couple — Ba-Mhee and Tae — they were adorable, yes, but they took up way too much screen time. I came for OffGun, and it felt like they were sidelined in their own story.

Second, the ending was rushed. Like, Ryan goes abroad and there’s zero communication between the couple? No video calls? No texting? Come on, it's 2024. That whole distance arc could have been way more emotionally developed.

And lastly, the job placements — how is everyone so settled right after interning? That's not how real life works. It felt a bit too glossy and perfect when it should've shown the struggle a bit more realistically.

Still, this was an enjoyable watch. OffGun’s performance, the emotional bits, the concept — all tied together nicely. Not perfect, but definitely worth it.
