 Ever Night – 7/10

I picked up Ever Night purely because of the hype and strong reviews—and while I’m usually not a fan of male lead-centric stories (I struggle to relate), I stuck with this one. It was quite long, and I did feel the drag at times, but I won’t deny it was a solid one-time watch.

The male lead, Ning Que (played by Chen Feiyu), was surprisingly likeable. He wasn’t some secret prince or reincarnated celestial—he built everything from scratch through sheer will, and that was refreshing. But the harem genre undertone made me roll my eyes. It’s just not my thing.

What truly made this drama work for me was Sang Sang. She was adorable, composed, and a genuinely well-written female lead. Not the typical damsel—not clingy, not sidelined—she had a spine and presence. I genuinely adored her character.

That said, I never bothered watching Season 2 once I found out Chen Feiyu was replaced. The magic for me lived and ended with Season 1.

Verdict: If you can stomach the harem vibes and want a fantasy drama where the male lead earns his place, and the female lead is actually strong and likeable, this one’s worth a try.
