I started Handsome Siblings with high hopes—mainly because I love wuxia dramas that lean more into emotional depth, internal conflict, and strong characters (especially strong female characters!) rather than fluffy romance. Unfortunately, this show was a massive letdown on that front.

What attracted me initially were the reviews praising the female cast and the promise of less romance and more power play. And yes, at first, Tie Xin Lan—the female lead—seemed promising. She was introduced as a competent fighter, even stronger than the male lead in some scenes, especially while disguised as a boy. But the moment her identity as a girl was revealed, the narrative did a complete 180. She was reduced to a pathetic, whimpering damsel whose entire arc seemed to revolve around love and getting rescued. What an absolute waste of potential.

To make matters worse, the other supposedly "strong" female characters were written off as bratty, childish, and emotionally erratic. They were constantly outwitted and manipulated by the male lead, who, frankly, I found incredibly arrogant and dripping with male ego. His attitude made it hard to root for him at all.

After reading more reviews, I realized that Tie Xin Lan remains just as frustrating throughout the show, and that was the final straw for me. I dropped it before wasting more of my time. I genuinely cannot sit through another show where the female lead exists just to pine over the male lead and become progressively useless.

Verdict: If you're someone like me—looking for strong, layered female characters and meaningful pain over shallow romance—then Handsome Siblings will only leave you annoyed.
