My Beautiful Man (Season 1, 2 & Movie)
My Beautiful Man (Season 1, 2 & Movie) – 10/10
Flawless. I’m still trying to find something to criticise—and failing. This series, across both seasons and the movie, is a masterclass in slow-burn storytelling, delicate emotional tension, and character-driven romance. It doesn’t just tell a love story—it dissects it, exposing its rawest layers.
The cinematography is quiet yet expressive, every scene composed with such care that it feels more like art than drama. But it's not just about visual elegance. The emotional undercurrents are intense—especially the way it handles obsession, insecurity, and worship within a relationship. It’s not your typical BL dynamic. Hira's reverence for Kiyoi borders on self-erasure at times, and the story doesn't shy away from showing how that imbalance affects both of them. It asks: what happens when love becomes worship? And how does the one being worshipped respond to that pressure?
Season 2 and the movie gave that growth and healing a proper arc—showing how love, when nurtured with honesty and vulnerability, can evolve into something stable and beautiful. Kiyoi, who could’ve remained a distant, idealised figure, instead becomes one of the most complex and surprisingly tender characters I’ve seen in a BL.
This isn’t just good—it’s artfully honest. A poetic portrayal of devotion, self-worth, and learning to meet love halfway. Count me in—again and again.
