Unintentional Love Story (2023)
Unintentional Love Story (2023)
Genre: K-BL / Office Romance / Adaptation
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (6/10)
Category: Korean BL / Frustrating Adaptation
Okay so—Unintentional Love Story had a good storyline, I’m not denying that. The setup, the pacing, the second couple — all of that had potential. But the one thing that completely pulled me out of it? The kiss scenes. Or more like... the lack of them.
If you’re adapting a BL that’s clearly got NSFW energy in the manga, why tone it down so badly in the live-action? Like if the actors aren’t comfortable — then change the casting. Don’t go through all the effort of adapting a BL and then act like you’re allergic to physical affection. It’s 2025, we’re past this.
And honestly, the chemistry between the main couple took a huge hit because of that. You could feel there was tension and build-up — but without proper intimacy, it just fell flat. The emotional connection felt cut in half. I shouldn’t have to fill in the blanks with my imagination.
Funny enough, I found myself more invested in the second couple. They were low-key cute and way more natural. At least their dynamic felt believable.
Final thoughts:
Solid setup, wasted potential. If you’re gonna adapt steamy manga, commit. Don’t water it down till there’s nothing left. 6/10 — and most of those points are for the second couple and the general storyline.
