Stay With Me

Stay With Me – 6/10

Chinese BL (Remake of Addicted)

Stay With Me” is a remake of the iconic Chinese BL Addicted, but sadly, it lacks almost everything that made the original unforgettable. Because of strict censorship, the romance between the leads is reduced to almost nothing — blink-and-you-miss-it moments that barely register as BL. Honestly, I only realised it was a BL in the last few episodes.

The story leans heavily into family drama, which I found incredibly boring and not my taste at all. I gave it a chance purely because it was advertised as a remake, but it felt like a diluted, regulation-safe version created just to exist, not to connect.

The leads came across as arrogant and emotionally distant, making it hard to root for them or feel invested in their journey. The only strong point was the casting — it did feel appropriately matched to the original characters in Addicted. But even with that, this remake can’t stand beside Addicted, a drama that made waves and left a mark despite being cut off mid-airing.

Compared to that raw, intense charm, “Stay With Me” feels like a toned-down shadow — watchable, but far from impactful.
